Camera Operator of the Year

For the best three news items filmed by a camera operator or self-shoot journalist which were broadcast or which appeared on-line between 1 October 2018 and 30 September 2019.

 

This category is open to camera operators and to journalists, producers & directors who have shot all the footage within a news item or current affairs programme.

 

The work must have been produced in Wales for an audience in Wales, and shown on a Welsh TV channel news programme or appeared on a Wales-based news website during the entry period.

 

You must:

  • Upload three submissions to YouTube, and include the links, or provide links to a website(s) where your submissions can be viewed. It is a condition of entry that these links must be live, and remain live, until the end of March 2020. Failure to do so may result in disqualification

  • Only submit one entry consisting of three items for this category

  • Supply a supporting statement (maximum 300 words), explaining your work and how it was obtained/produced

 

Judges will be looking for:

  • Creativity of shots – whether actuality footage or planned sequences

  • Technical expertise

  • Quality of picture

  • Pictures which enhance understanding of the story

 

The organisers reserve the right to mention any entrants to this category and to display any of the work they enter in any publicity and marketing relating to the competition without copyright infringement.

 

The decision of the judges is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
